That's right! Jingle Jangle. Didn't see that coming did you? Or maybe you did. I did ask for my name to be all over it. And boy-oh was it ever! The purple hair ribbon with gears. My math equation. Yes, Journey's math equation is my equation. The square root of impossible is me. I imagined a world in which Math and Belief could co-exist. I called it "Time-Lord Math."
There was a few things I thought of when I spoke to Scott about it. There was a song, 'I've got Spurs" its an old cowboy song. Then, Dr who. I can't talk pop culture without the Doctor. (I can't help it. It falls out of my mouth without much thought or hesitation.) I spoke about Time-Lord math and what it would look or sound like. I thought about William, if he had made better choices with his gifts of creation and invention. I also thought of loss, suffering, betrayal, sorrow, pain, and heartbreak. A narrative cannot be a narrative without these gifts of darkness. I thought about real NASA math. I thought about how our world is a better place when those who suffer can overcome adversity, conquer it, and forge a new way to open the doors for others to follow. I knew that many Black American women employed by NASA were experts in Math. These women helped us find our way to the moon! Unsung heroines that I looked up too. But could never say that out loud to my family as a young girl. I wanted other girls to know that they could have something even if they were told it was impossible. Every girl can be the impossible girl. Because the square root of impossible is you. You can make it possible, no matter how far away it seems. And I knew who I wanted to tell that story, Phylicia Rashad. The woman is a fountain of empress energy. I have always looked at her as a role model. That's my head cannon, anyway.
The Magic man! The OG! Can't spell Magic without G! I loved it! Keegan Key put it out there and nailed it. Forest Whitaker was the perfect opposite of that coin. The Production! WOW! What a production! The costumes, and color themes, the choreography, everything was stunning. I was transported, belief was suspended, and for a moment...for a moment I flew with Buddy 3000 too.
This movie is amazing. I loved every minute of it. Thank you so much. This gift is Brillant.
I'm behind but finding more and more everyday. I won't make the deadline of December 30 tho. I'll miss some. I'm so sorry I got behind. I spent a long time ill and rural. But I'm hoping very soon to join you all. I want to play too. I want to be a part of the creation. I want to bring these worlds to life with everyone. I really hope I'll see you soon.
THANK YOU!
For all time, Always
